RF Deck - Anode Side ComponentsVC3 and VC2 output tuning capacitors An ordinary variable capacitor was chosen for the loading capacitor as it was significantly lighter than an equivalent vacuum variable. Vacuum variables can be bought off ebay or from US companies like Surplus Sales in Nebraska. The 8877 base and chimney These can be bought from Surplus sales, although I obtained mine from a German amateur who had just bought them from the USA - via ebay! 8877/3CX1500A7 valve & specification Again, you will need to search for an 8877 but they are readily available second-hand in the USA. I found mine on a news group. The 8887 valve, base and chimney assembled Neat huh? The Tohtsu coaxial antenna change-over relay It is possible to use a pair of vacuum relays if you can get hold of a pair. I bought mine from a 6m ham in Belgium. Anode HT choke
Brass anode connector The anode clip is made from a 10mm wide strip of brass and is silvered.. L3, anode coil The anode coil is made from 1/8" pure copper tube and consists of 3-turns, wide spaced, 32mm dia (silvered) Silvered anode assembly Output safety choke The output safety choke is approximately 60-turns 22swg, close wound on 85mm length of 8mm PTFE rod. Output tuning capacitor assembly The tuning vacuum variable is mounted on a 10mm thick piece of PTFE bar and is screwed to floor for rigid mounting. Four small clamps to hold 8877 chimney tight on the chassis The 8877 PTFE is held down by four hand-made brackets made from 10mm brass sheet screwed down by m3 screws. HV-20 HT cable 20kv / 30kV HT cable is available from RF parts in the USA. HT feed through capacitor I obtained this feed-through capacitor from Peter Rodwell of Linear Amplifier UK.
